Wood Badge Award
Ant Hayden, Assistant Scout Leader at 3rd Brampton (St Thomas’) Scout Group was presented with his Wood Badge at Scouts tonight.
The Wood Badge is awarded to leaders who have completed their adult training and was introduced by Baden Powell in 1919.
The Wood Badge course is designed so that adult Scouters can learn; in as practical a way possible, the skills and methods of Scouting. On completion, participants are still awarded the beads to recognise their significant achievement in leadership and direct service to young people, and to welcome them to membership of the 1st Gilwell Park Scout Group.
Wood Badge holders wear the distinctive necker, woggle and beads. Additional beads may be gained through further training (up to 6 beads).
