Schools still out….

April 2, 2020 By scoutsrule Leave a Comment

Hello members of 3rd Brampton

schools outI hope you are all still holding up and not yet climbing the walls, at home with the young people, and that they are not getting change to get bored of being home.  Isn’t it a unpresidented time we are living?

I’ve seen lot’s of evidence through social media that you are keeping your young ones entertained and engaged,  (don’t forget these go towards badges) through creating rainbows (Creative badge) for your windows, doing the Lego challenge (Builder badge), cooking and baking (Chef and cook badges) as well as keep fit exercises (fitness badge) and there is many more…. Just ask your section leader and they will advise which badge they can map it over to.

You know us scouters love the outdoors, it’s what makes scouting so special, but obviously we are not allowed to camp or go out at the moment.  Our leaders have been very busy putting activities together for scout, cubs and beavers to continue their scouting at home and work towards some badges.  Please share photos and evidence with your section leader, so that they can allocate the activities towards the relevant badges.  We would hate for the young people to miss out, as it looks like we will be away from face to face meetings for many months yet.

Talking about the great outdoors, now is the time, with the weather picking up that we would normally be planning outdoor activities, such as hikes and things, that we could do outside the church instead of inside.

I have a website, that I would like to share with you.  It’s full of outdoor activities for all ages, from scouts to beavers, there is something for everyone, and more than enough activities to keep you going through the Easter period and beyond.

You can find the website here, and you can be assured that all have been tried and tested by our scouting community.  Originally designed to be used for face to face meetings, so some adaptations may be needed on your part, but we are sure that you will rise to that challenge ?

I for one, and I am sure that I speak for all our section leaders as well, are missing all you young people, but until we can  meet again, stay in and stay safe, the coronavirus crisis will all be over soon and we can all get back to normal.
